My Story

From longing for adventure to living it

In 2020, uncertainty unexpectedly deepened my desire for adventure. What had long been a feeling slowly became a decision: stop simply watching the world and start documenting my own curiosity.

What started as a way to document my own adventures became a way to take others along.

TommyAmun began around 2020, when being unable to travel made me realise just how much I wanted to get out and see more of the world. Picking up a camera became a way to document those experiences, tell their stories and take other people along.

Turning Longing into Adventure was created as a storytelling exercise for the Lost Creator Academy. It also explains something much bigger: why TommyAmun exists at all.

Stories beyond the destination

Travel for me is about more than seeing somewhere new. I am drawn to places with stories: ancient ruins, archaeological sites, dramatic landscapes, unusual corners of the world and the traces left behind by the people who came before us.

I have ventured inside ancient pyramids, explored ruins and searched for hidden gems, while trying to understand the history behind what I am seeing.

The videos are still travel vlogs. Plans change, things go wrong and unexpected moments become part of the story.

The aim is not simply to show you what a destination looks like, but to share what it felt like to experience it.

Travel

Stories, History & Moments

Ancient pyramids, ruins, landscapes, cities and hidden places.

History gives a destination context. The unpredictable moments along the way are often what make it memorable.

LARP

Step into another world

Through my character Amun, I step inside stories created collectively by hundreds or even thousands of people.

Battles matter, but so do quiet conversations, rituals, friendships, ridiculous moments and everything that happens between the big scenes.

LARP

Stories you don't just watch.
You live them.

LARP is storytelling in which everyone becomes part of the world.

My videos follow those experiences from inside the action, particularly at large events such as ConQuest, where camps, factions, characters and stories exist together for days at a time.

I want the videos to capture why these worlds can feel so real while also making them accessible to viewers who have never experienced LARP themselves.

Music

A song can become part of a place

Music travels with me too.

Alongside the vlogs, I record a cappella covers of timeless ballads in extraordinary locations.

Sometimes a landscape, an ancient site or simply the atmosphere of a particular place changes the way a song feels.

Those performances are made purely out of passion. I look for moments where music and location somehow belong together.

A Cappella Around the World

One voice. One location. And a song that somehow fits the moment.

Who is TommyAmun?

One person, many stories

TommyAmun is a YouTuber who takes his audience along on immersive adventures around the world. His videos combine travel, exploration, history and real encounters with the people and places he visits, with plenty of humour, curiosity and self-irony along the way.

Rather than simply showing destinations, Tommy wants viewers to feel as if they have experienced the journey with him. He researches the history and stories behind the places he explores, while keeping the actual adventure authentic, including unexpected changes, mistakes and the occasional bit of chaos.

Travel and exploration are at the heart of TommyAmun, with LARP as an important second part of the channel and occasional a cappella performances recorded in extraordinary locations. Above all, TommyAmun is about making people want to get off the couch, go outside and discover the world for themselves.

Keep Exploring

Ancient places. New countries. Fictional worlds. Songs in unexpected settings.

They may look like very different things, but for me they all begin with the same impulse:

curiosity about what lies beyond the familiar.
